What is MiDAS?
MiDAS is the Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes an award winning nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that is designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses and currently there are well over 5,000 member organisations throughout the UK comprising of local authorities, schools, colleges, care groups, community transport groups, youth groups and charities.
So how much does it cost to join?
It costs nothing to join, you just have to agree as an organisation to the continuing commitment of the scheme. (Details can be found at http://www.ctauk.org/training/introduction-to-midas.aspx)
Who is it aimed at?
MiDAS is applicable to any organisation that operates or is using minibuses. Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle to local authorities operating large fleets of minbuses as well as school, colleges and universities.
What will our drivers get from taking the course?
Drivers who successfully complete the MiDAS course assessment and training programme will receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for 4 years, as well as the option of obtaining the comprehensive "MiDAS Driver's Handbook".
